dict.cc Nemecko-slovenský slovník: Slovak-German
and Multilingual Dictionary
The goal of dict.cc is to make it possible to share your vocabulary knowledge with the world. This is the main difference from other translation services - every user is encouraged to contribute to the Slovak-German dictionary by adding and/or verifying translation suggestions. The resulting vocabulary database can be downloaded and used for free.Besides browsing the dictionary or searching for German-Slovak translations you can also ask and answer questions related to the German or Slovak language using the translation forum. To improve your language skills try the vocabulary trainer.
Disclaimer: The correctness of the translations cannot be guaranteed (nobody is perfect), but all input will be checked carefully. If you spot an error, please report it using the info button [i] located next to each translation within the search results.

2025-11-06: 23 years of dict.cc!
In addition to routine work, such as support, bug fixing, server maintenance, combating spam and a big update of the dict.cc app for iOS 26, I was busy supporting the build-up of the Ukrainian dictionaries. DE-UK has hit the 30k mark a while ago and continues to grow. I think we're going to reach 50,000 entries soon. EN-UK has reached almost 24k so far. It would be great to shortly exceed the beta threshold here, too!
Here are the statistics for 2025:
1,302,822 German-English translations, 2,526,324 translations in other language pairs
1,545,690 audio recordings, 1.730.262 inflection entries and 423,021 illustrating images
315,446 registered users, 38,872 of them contributors

2025-05-28: Language Hall of Fame
As of today there's a new variant of the Hall of Fame, intended for comparing the development of dict.cc's language pairs.
The all-time view lists all contributions from all areas of dict.cc, including the forum, audio recordings, illustrations, inflections, and, most importantly, translations. You can see not only how many entries there are, but also how many reviews/corrections (votes) were required. For example, over 3.3 million manual reviews and corrections have already been performed for the German-English vocabulary, and over 2 million reviews of German and English voice recordings have taken place so far. I think that's a tremendous amount of work, thanks to our amazing contributors!
The "Last 7 Days" view allows contributors to see which language pairs and which areas are currently experiencing a lot or only little activity. Depending on their interest, they can participate in the lively section or breathe new life into other areas. The weekly "Activity Score" for comparing language pairs is also displayed in the right-hand section of the dict.cc homepage.
The third view, called "Pending Entries" lists new additions (freshly added unverified entries) and wish list postings, so it indicates which areas and languages most urgently need support at the moment.
I hope this new feature will be of interest, also to users who don't necessarily want to contribute but may still be curious about what's going on behind the scenes of dict.cc.
